Man Arrested at Trump’s Golf Course with Alarming Materials

An armed individual was apprehended on August 2 at President Donald Trump’s golf course in California. Reports indicate he possessed sensitive details, including First Lady Melania Trump’s schedule and information on U.S. Secret Service (USSS) personnel.

Jeanine John Taele, aged 38, had over 200 pages of documentation that contained the First Lady’s schedules and data on USSS members, as revealed during a Los Angeles County court hearing. Prosecutors disclosed that Taele held seven notebooks with 208 pages of sketches of the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, USSS schedules, information on security personnel, and copies of Melania Trump’s itinerary.

Weapons Cache Discovered

Taele faced four criminal charges following his arrest near the golf course days ahead of President Trump’s intended visit. The writings included instructions for surviving “off the grid.” A judge labeled the situation “alarming,” especially considering current political tensions and increasing violence.

Criminal proceedings were halted after Taele was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial. His case was redirected to a mental health court.

Apprehension Details

Taele was detained after federal agents noticed him at the golf club, taking recordings and seemingly assessing security measures before Trump’s visit. An inspection revealed a magazine with hollow-point bullets in his pants pocket. A search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded pistol, another magazine with similar ammunition, and more.

An investigation also led to Taele’s home in Downey, where authorities found an illegally altered AR rifle, a pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk ammunition, radio devices, and additional notebooks with concerning remarks.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, USSS, and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department continue to examine the case. Taele, a former Marine with service in Iraq and Afghanistan, is held until a September 9 hearing at the Hollywood Mental Health Court.

Taele’s public defender, A.J. Bayne, urged caution against assumptions about Taele’s actions, highlighting his military background and family support.

The USSS emphasized its commitment to probing any perceived protective intelligence threats or interests relating to individuals under its protection, though it did not provide comments on this specific case.

President Trump commented on the arrest, recognizing the gravity of being a “consequential” leader, which often attracts such incidents.
