As Fox took the stage, he received a standing ovation. He reflected on his Parkinson’s diagnosis, which he received at 29 years old in 1991, and publicly disclosed in 1998.

Initially, I kept my Parkinson’s diagnosis a secret. I worried that it would affect my work and my relationship with audiences.
Would they laugh if they knew I was sick? And then I was stunned by the support I got. The support from all of you. It was so uplifting.

Fox expressed gratitude for the unwavering support, emphasizing its crucial role in his career and life. He highlighted that the backing from supporters allowed him to continue his work.

During his acceptance speech, Fox discussed the progress of his foundation, stating that they are “close” to discovering a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
