Model Presley Gerber Passes Away at 27

Presley Gerber, a model and the son of Cindy Crawford, has died aged 27. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death, which occurred on Sunday at a rehab facility. The exact cause of death remains unconfirmed.

Gerber had openly discussed his battles with mental health issues and drug addiction in recent years. In a notable Instagram post from March, he wrote, “Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose – quiet moment before everything changed.” He further expressed, “I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, I started finding my way back to myself. We shall see… Praying it’s the last time I have to come back.” This post included hashtags related to mental health and ibogaine, such as “iboga,” “ibogaine,” “rewire your brain,” and “love yourself.”

Ibogaine is derived from iboga, a shrub native to West Africa. In small doses, it acts as a mild stimulant, while larger amounts can lead to profound psychedelic experiences, including hallucinations. As a pharmaceutical substance, ibogaine is administered for various health conditions, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is also used to treat substance use dependency. Research indicates its effectiveness in alleviating withdrawal symptoms and reducing cravings.

In the 1980s, ibogaine became popular in the U.S. and Europe. Despite this, it remains classified as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
