Mother Struggles with Teen’s Coldness Over Work Contest

A mother of a typical 15-year-old daughter usually manages her child’s aloof demeanor without much trouble. Despite her daughter’s reserved nature, the mother does everything she can for her. She knows her efforts often meet with a chilly teenage response but she remains unfazed most of the time.

Recently, the daughter’s request for spending money added a new layer to their routine interactions. She wanted extra funds to hang out with friends. An opportunity arose to win some money independently when the mother’s workplace held a contest. The contest invited employees’ family members to draw a safety-themed picture for a $100 prize.

The daughter decided to participate. She asked her mother for a photo of her workplace to use in her drawing. Eager to help, the mother arranged for a coworker to snap a picture of her standing in front of a company machine. She promptly sent this photo to her daughter.
