Elon Musk stands to gain significantly if SpaceX succeeds in creating a city on Mars. This unusual condition in his compensation agreement was disclosed in SpaceX’s recent investor prospectus. According to the document, for Musk to earn performance-based shares, the company must establish a permanent human settlement on the Red Planet with at least 1 million people.
Some experts express skepticism about this ambitious plan. One expert commented, “I have a hard time taking it seriously.” Despite these doubts, the idea holds great financial implications for Musk.
NASA’s rover, Perseverance, captured an image in 2021 of a Martian hill named Santa Cruz. This hill is located roughly 1.5 miles from the rover. The image was taken using the dual-camera Mastcam-Z imager, a testament to ongoing explorations on Mars.
