Mysterious Hero Saves Family From Las Vegas House Fire

6 days ago 0

A mysterious man is being praised as a hero after alerting a sleeping family in Las Vegas to a predawn house fire, enabling them to escape just in time. After ensuring their safety, the man vanished before anyone could learn his identity.

The family is now on a quest to find this man who yelled “Fire!” and even used a garden hose to combat the flames. They wish to thank him for saving their lives and those of their neighbors.

The fire occurred around 5 a.m. on July 5 at a home in the Las Vegas Valley. Surveillance footage provided to Fox News Digital shows fire consuming the backyard as the blaze spread.

The unknown man alerted a Las Vegas family about the house fire, homeowner Danna Shabtai told Fox News Digital. Earlier, she had asked nearby children to stop setting off fireworks. She was awakened at 4:51 a.m. by frantic doorbell rings and loud bangs on the door.

“My dog’s barking woke me, and I rushed to the door,” Shabtai recounted. “A man was shouting, ‘Fire! Fire!’ and pointing to the back of the house. Turning around, I saw flames through the French doors.”

The stranger’s urgency prompted Shabtai and her sister into action. Her sister grabbed the garden hose, while Shabtai picked up her 14-month-old son and went to alert the neighbors. “I banged on their windows and doors to awaken them,” said Shabtai.

The family’s backyard suffered significant fire damage. Surveillance showed the unknown man attempting to contain the fire with a hose, joined by Shabtai’s sister. “Without him passing by at that moment, the situation could have been much worse,” Shabtai expressed.

The family has turned to social media, hoping to find the man and express their gratitude. “You’re an angel who saved our lives,” Shabtai said in a Fox 5 Las Vegas interview. “You didn’t have to stop; you took the time, and you’re a hero.”

The flames inflicted severe damage on neighboring properties too. Shabtai proposes the fire started after children across the street set off fireworks, despite warnings. She recalls hearing debris on a neighbor’s gazebo and seeing an ember drift toward the neighbor’s roof. She suspects it may have smoldered overnight before igniting.

In a post-fire Facebook update, Shabtai credited the hero with saving several families. She also voiced concerns over fireworks. “This is why professionals should handle fireworks,” she wrote. “This man saved multiple lives by driving by.”

She shared a video of the aftermath, noting her family was lucky to stay home, unlike the displaced neighbors.

Fox News Digital contacted the North Las Vegas Fire Department for further details on the fire’s cause but did not receive an immediate response.
