Paul Pelosi Involved in California Hit-and-Run Incident

Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run accident in California, according to authorities. The incident occurred in Yountville, a town known for its wine country. Pelosi was driving his brown convertible on Friday when he collided with a legally parked car on the side of the road. He stopped briefly before driving away.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office stated that no injuries were reported. A witness observed the collision and notified 911, leading deputies to locate Pelosi approximately a quarter of a mile from the accident scene. His car had front-end damage. Pelosi reportedly acknowledged hitting something but was uncertain about the details. Officials confirmed no alcohol was detected in his system.

Due to his age, the sheriff’s office referred Pelosi to the Department of Motor Vehicles for an evaluation to determine if he can continue driving. This referral is a standard procedure for older drivers. Although he was not arrested, the office recommended a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the scene since no injuries were involved.

A staff member for Nancy Pelosi did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In 2022, Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence in Napa County. He was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation. However, he served two days in jail and received credit for good conduct on two other days, completing the remaining day through a work program.

As part of his probation, he attended a three-month drinking driver class and installed an ignition interlock device, ensuring sobriety before starting the car. Pelosi was also ordered to pay around $5,000 in victim restitution for medical expenses and lost wages, along with nearly $2,000 in fines. In the same year, he was attacked and severely beaten with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco home.
