Princess of Wales Completes National Three Peaks Challenge for Charity

By June 29, 2026, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, successfully completed the U.K.’s National Three Peaks Challenge. This involved climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours. Her goal was to raise awareness and funds for a cancer charity.

In March 2024, Catherine, known as Kate, was diagnosed with an unspecified cancer. By early 2025, she announced her remission after undergoing chemotherapy. A social media post from Kensington Palace highlighted her reasons for undertaking the climb. It wasn’t only for the challenge but also to explore life and contribute back to society.

The challenge includes hiking up Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Mount Snowdon in Wales. This trek spans 23 miles with a total ascent of 10,052 feet. Additionally, participants must drive 462 miles between the peaks.

Kate’s effort supported the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, linked to the hospital where she was treated. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the profound impact of illnesses and the need for holistic healthcare. Holistic care considers emotional, spiritual, and social well-being along with medical treatments like chemotherapy.

Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live, between effort and acceptance, Kate stated.

Kate completed the challenge solo but had assistance from Britain’s Mountain Rescue charity during the journey. Prince William, her husband, their children, and her family greeted her at the finish.

Reflecting on her cancer experience, Kate shared that many people hear the life-altering diagnosis annually. She spoke about the comprehensive test it poses, affecting physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects.

After her diagnosis, Kate paused public duties to focus on treatment. Since announcing her remission, she gradually returned to public engagements. In May 2026, she visited northern Italy, marking her first overseas trip since her diagnosis.
