President Donald Trump has launched a criticism against Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, escalating a diplomatic rift stemming from a contentious photograph.
The situation worsened when Italy’s foreign minister canceled a scheduled visit to the United States after Trump claimed Meloni had ‘begged’ him for a photo at the G7 summit. Meloni firmly refuted this claim, labeling it as ‘completely unfounded’ and emphasizing, ‘Neither I, nor Italy, ever beg.’
On Tuesday, Trump posted on Truth Social: ‘Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni asked repeatedly for a picture with me during the G7 meeting in France.’
Trump also criticized Meloni’s political performance in Italy, attributing her struggles to Italy’s non-participation in the conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. He expressed frustration over Italy’s refusal to allow the use of its landing strips, describing it as a significant logistical hindrance.
Now, after the United States defeated Iran militarily, she wants to be friends again to improve her popularity numbers. No thanks!!!
This situation continues to develop, and further updates are expected.
