Texas Trump Supporters Remain Loyal Amid Rising Gas Prices

1 hour ago 0

In Texas, a surge in gas prices isn’t deterring President Donald Trump’s supporters. Even as costs rise ahead of the midterm elections, attendees at campaign rallies assert that their loyalty remains steadfast.

One supporter in Lubbock expressed understanding of the economic pressure but remained committed to Trump’s efforts. “I do experience that costs are high, but I’m in for the long haul and I support everything that he’s been doing,” he shared with Fox News Digital.

Campaign events in Lubbock and Corpus Christi, cities deeply connected to the U.S. oil and gas sector, revealed that many voters recognize the economic strain but still back the president.

The looming midterm elections carry weight amid rising fears of socialism and national instability. With the national average gas price at $4.25 per gallon, up from $3.05 the previous year, economic concerns are evident.

During a rally in Lubbock on October 27, 2026, Trump spoke of higher costs while promoting increased domestic oil production. He referenced a new energy deal with Venezuela as a strategy to reduce prices.

“Our country is making a fortune while people have to pay more at the pump,” Trump stated. Yet, he assured that prices “are going to come down really fast.”

Trump emphasized that the result should soon relieve many at the pump. Corpus Christi hosted an announcement of one million barrels of Venezuelan oil arriving in Texas, a deal the White House claims costs taxpayers nothing and will aid in refining efforts.

The administration has labeled this a significant move to broaden energy supplies, anticipating that increased oil availability will lower consumer costs. A larger agreement further extends U.S. control over Venezuelan oil resources, with intentions to bolster output and decrease prices.

In Corpus Christi, Stephen Elsher emphasized economic recovery as his priority for the midterms. He expressed confidence in Republicans to initiate progress. “I’d like to see it turn around and do better for this next year,” he stated, “Without the Republicans in charge, we won’t go that direction.”

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party encounters rising calls for change from its progressive faction, introducing democratic socialist candidates which has sparked discussions on party direction.

At the Lubbock rally, Trump criticized the “radical left Democrat communist” agenda, claiming Democratic strategies could lead to increased taxes, imperiled oil jobs, and weakened border security.

“The choice in this election is very simple,” Trump insisted, comparing his economic plan with the predicted Democratic effects.

Some attendees voiced broader concerns beyond economic strains, suggesting that socialism jeopardizes the nation’s future. “We can’t lose our republic,” said Susie, a Corpus Christi supporter, alerting to threats from Democrats, socialists, and communists.

Elizabeth Trigo, attending with her daughters in Lubbock, emphasized that midterms transcend immediate outcomes. “The most important thing is opportunity again. Trump is on the side of opportunity,” she conveyed to Fox News Digital.

Trigo hopes Trump will continue addressing drug issues and resisting socialism in his remaining term.
