Tropical Storm Fausto Forms and Gulf Waters Fuel Possible Threatening Storm

Tropical Storm Fausto has developed far from Mexico’s southwest coast. Meanwhile, a tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico could strengthen soon.

Fausto Details:

On Sunday, Fausto emerged from a tropical depression. It was located 750 miles south-southwest of Baja California’s southern tip. The U.S. National Hurricane Center predicted Fausto may become a hurricane by Monday night. Currently, its maximum sustained winds are at 40 mph, moving west-northwest at 13 mph. No coastal warnings are in effect at this time.

Tropical Storm Elida:

Elida, another storm, is losing strength. On Sunday, it was about 1,015 miles west of Baja California, with sustained winds of 60 mph. Elida should weaken to a remnant low shortly.

Gulf of Mexico Depression:

Forecasters are monitoring a tropical depression south-southeast of the Florida Panhandle. This depression may become a tropical storm soon. A tropical storm watch is active for parts of the Florida Panhandle to Alabama. Heavy rain is possible in northern Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana. The system might move west toward Texas.

Currently, the depression is stationary, located about 190 miles south-southeast of Panama City, Florida, with winds at 30 mph.
