Trump Discusses US-Iran Memorandum and Military Actions

4 days ago 0

President Donald Trump has provided new insights into the negotiations between the United States and Iran. This follows a recent signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at ending the war between the two countries.

In an interview with Axios’ Marc Caputo, Trump addressed the 14-point agreement, countering claims that it does not represent an unconditional surrender from Iran.

“Well, it really probably is unconditional surrender,” Trump stated.

When pressed further by Caputo, Trump confirmed his stance, explaining, “Look, they have no military. They’re all at the bottom of the sea. 159 ships. That’s what they had.” He highlighted the successful elimination of some of Iran’s key leaders, detailing a weakened military structure.

“There’s no airplanes,” Trump emphasized. “They had 200 of them. They’re all gone. Their Navy, 159 ships, all at the bottom of the sea. Leadership, their first stringers all gone, replaced by a new, but equally tough group. They’re now also gone.”

Trump described the U.S. strategy to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities through clandestine operations over a two-month period. “For the last two months, I’ve been taking many ships out there unnoticed,” he mentioned. “We knocked out their radar and defensive equipment, so they couldn’t detect us.”

He recounted specific nighttime operations where significant numbers of ships were removed without detection. “We’d leave at one o’clock in the morning, all lights off, with our Navy destroyers providing cover,” he explained. “We removed many ships, night after night, and it wasn’t known until I made it public.”

Addressing the economic repercussions, Trump noted that reopening the Strait of Hormuz was part of the MOU. “Our stock market is surging. Oil prices are now where they were before the war began,” he shared. “Iran will never develop a nuclear weapon.”

The agreement stipulates that both Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will work towards ending the conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and engaging in 60 days of nuclear talks.

Trump also mentioned successes within his administration, highlighting a significant reduction in crime rates in Washington, D.C., and aesthetic improvements to the city ahead of the U.S.’s 250th anniversary.

“We’ve transformed Washington, D.C., into one of America’s safest cities,” Trump said. “Crime has dropped by 94% in a year. I’ve beautified it, removing graffiti and installing new grass, along with restoring monuments.”
