Trump’s Health Exam Shows Positive Results

3 weeks ago 0

Donald Trump’s doctor has declared him in “excellent health.” The 79-year-old former president is deemed “fully fit” for his role following a medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Dr. Sean Barbabella’s report, released on Friday, indicates that Trump underwent various diagnostic tests. These included a CT scan, heart imaging, and cancer screenings.

After the exam, which lasted three hours, Trump mentioned that everything checked out perfectly. The examination revealed that he weighed 238 pounds (108 kilograms), a 14-pound increase since his last exam in April 2025. His doctors advised him on diet and exercise but affirmed that his “cognitive and physical performance are excellent.” Trump’s height is 6 feet 3 inches (1.9 meters), giving him a body mass index of 29.7. This is just below the threshold for obesity, which begins at a BMI of 30.

The report noted bruising on his hands. This was attributed to “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking,” a common side effect of aspirin therapy. A switch to low-dose aspirin was recommended.

Last year, Trump was found to have chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older adults. It causes blood to pool in the legs. The latest exam recorded “slight lower leg swelling” but noted improvement.

“His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being,” said Barbabella.

The Montreal Cognitive Assessment was administered to screen for cognitive issues. Trump scored 30 out of 30, consistent with previous years.

Cholesterol levels have improved with medication. Trump’s total cholesterol was 143, a decrease from 223 in 2018. He takes rosuvastatin to manage LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, alongside ezetimibe for lowering LDL.

This examination marks his fourth publicly disclosed medical exam since his second term began. It occurs as he seeks to project vigor before midterm elections.

Past presidential administrations have disclosed certain medical exam results. This tradition allows public insight into the health of the president, though it’s not mandated.

Critics have challenged the detail and reliability of Trump’s past health reports. Trump, turning 80 next month, was the oldest elected U.S. president. Concerns about age also affected his predecessor, Joe Biden, who left office at 82 due to age-related concerns.

Trump seeks to dispel worries about age and stamina. He frequently mentions feeling in similar health to 50 years ago, amid jokes about his love for fast food and limited exercise apart from golf.
