Chicago police reported a tragic event on the West Side in the Garfield Park neighborhood where a 64-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man lost their lives in a shooting. The incident occurred late Wednesday morning.
The shooting took place just before noon. A man was on the 200 block of South Pulaski Road when an unknown individual approached him. The assailant drew a firearm and shot the man multiple times. Responders rushed him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead.
Nearby, police found an unresponsive woman, aged 64, in the 300 block of South Pulaski Road. She had suffered a gunshot wound to her chest and was transported to the same hospital as the other victim. Sadly, she too was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The suspect fled the scene in a black sedan driving south on Pulaski Road. Detectives are currently conducting an investigation into the shooting.
