Tyreek Hill Held Liable in Battery Case

55 minutes ago 0

A jury in Miami-Dade County has ruled against former NFL player Tyreek Hill in two counts of battery involving his wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro. Hill has been ordered to pay $500,000 in compensatory damages following the conclusion of his divorce trial.

This same jury determined that Hill was not liable for five other counts of battery, one count of assault, intentional emotional distress, and continuing domestic violence against Vaccaro. Additionally, one count of battery was dismissed earlier by Vaccaro’s attorneys.

Despite these rulings, Hill’s reputation remains affected as the jury, by a preponderance of evidence, found him guilty of battering his wife on two occasions. The damages awarded to Vaccaro are significantly less than what she may have initially anticipated.

The NFL is currently reviewing Hill under its Personal Conduct Policy, as he plans to return to the league soon. His ongoing link to the Kansas City Chiefs has fueled speculation about his career.

The incidents leading to the jury’s decision occurred as follows:

  • On January 11, 2024, Hill allegedly demanded Vaccaro sign a postnuptial agreement, leading to an argument. Vaccaro accused Hill of aggressively throwing her belongings and violently pushing her to the floor.
  • The second incident took place on April 7, 2025, in their Florida condominium. Vaccaro claimed Hill forcibly restrained her and caused physical harm. The jury corroborated these claims.

While the NFL promotes initiatives such as ‘Inspire Change’ and ‘Choose Love,’ the effectiveness of its response to domestic violence remains under scrutiny. Hill’s actions will be further reviewed as part of this evaluation.
