Vice President JD Vance has opted to abstain from endorsing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reelection bid. Vance stated he intends to remain uninvolved in Israel’s electoral matters despite President Donald Trump expressing support for Netanyahu.
During an interview on “2WAY Tonight,” Vance emphasized his commitment to focusing on American candidates in the lead-up to the midterm elections, as reported by Politico. “The president has the most effective endorsement in American or international political history,” Vance noted. “I endorse American candidates and that’s where my focus is for the midterms. I’m not participating in Israeli elections.”
Vice President JD Vance has declined to endorse Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reelection bid.
Vance clarified that his decision should not suggest any opposition to Netanyahu. “I’m not anti-endorsing him. I’m not pro-endorsing him. I’m not engaging in Israeli elections,” the vice president added.
Trump had recently announced his “Complete and Total Endorsement” for Netanyahu in a detailed Truth Social post, highlighting the prime minister’s significance as an ally to the U.S., particularly in managing Iran. “Bibi Netanyahu has been a Great Warrior Prime Minister and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump wrote.
Trump further declared, “Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Israel. BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
Netanyahu warmly received Trump’s backing, expressing gratitude for what he referred to as an “extraordinary endorsement.” “President Trump, my friend Donald – thank you for your extraordinary endorsement,” Netanyahu responded. “Israel has never had a greater friend in the White House. Together we will never let Iran’s regime get nuclear weapons. Thank you for your clarity, courage, and unwavering support.”
Vance’s decision to steer clear of Israel’s election aligns with his previous venture into foreign political contests earlier in the year. In April, he traveled to Hungary to campaign alongside then-Prime Minister Viktor Orban shortly before Orban was defeated in a reelection bid, as per Politico reports.
The White House has yet to provide a comment to Fox News Digital regarding Vance’s current stance.
