During the FIFA World Cup hosted in the United States, foreign fans have wholeheartedly embraced American culture. Host Aisha Hasnie and Fox News contributor Joe Concha highlighted various cultural experiences shared by these fans. Viral social media posts depicted fans trying American staples such as Waffle House and Big Gulps.
A heartwarming moment was captured on video, showing Scottish fans serenading a New England neighborhood with bagpipes to celebrate their team. Following the United States’ victory against Australia, which secured their place in the Round of 32, attention shifted to Scotland, America’s new favorite team. Known as the Tartan Army, they have been enthusiastic since arriving for their first World Cup appearance in 28 years. Their campaign began with a successful 1-0 win over Haiti.
As the team prepared for their second match against Morocco, who started with a draw against Brazil, enthusiasm was at its peak. The match took place at Boston Stadium, also known as Gillette Stadium, where locals warmly embraced Scotland and its supporters. Pre-match festivities were notably vibrant, filled with bagpipes, traditional kilts, and a lively atmosphere.
In Providence, even local ducks joined the spirited display. For the record, this was the second instance of soccer-themed antics involving ducks at this World Cup, setting a notable precedent.
Inside the stadium, Scottish supporters made their presence known, passionately singing “Flower of Scotland,” their unofficial anthem. Unfortunately, the mood dampened slightly when Morocco scored an early goal in the second minute. Despite Scotland’s efforts and several opportunities, the match ended in a 1-0 defeat.
This result placed Morocco atop Group C, with Scotland in second position. The Scots’ next challenge is another significant match against Brazil, set to take place in Miami.
