Trump’s Endorsements Dominate 2026 Primary Season

2 weeks ago 0

President Donald Trump maintains a strong presence in the 2026 primary season. All candidates he endorsed have claimed victory in their contests, solidifying his influence within the Republican Party. Madeleine Rivera from Fox News reports on Ken Paxton’s triumph in the Texas Senate primary runoff, illustrating Trump’s substantial control over the GOP.

Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Dina Titus secured the Democratic primary win in Nevada’s 1st Congressional District. Facing Gabriel Cornejo, Joy Hoover, and Luis Paniagua, Titus emerged victorious, securing her party’s nomination for an eighth term in Congress.

Titus, representing the Las Vegas area since 2013, entered the race as a strong frontrunner. Supported by labor unions and Democratic groups, she held a significant fundraising advantage. Critics calling for new leadership were met with Titus’ focus on her congressional experience and her stance on key local matters like tourism, transportation, and veterans’ affairs.

Dina Titus, defending her position, dismissed calls for change, emphasizing her track record on Nevada’s pressing issues.

Elected first to Congress in 2008 from Nevada’s 3rd District, Titus returned following a redistricting. Her prior experience includes two decades in the Nevada Senate and a tenure as a political science professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Opponents struggled to gain momentum. Hoover, a businesswoman, alongside Cornejo and Paniagua, presented themselves as alternatives but failed to surpass Titus. This race was less prominent compared to major statewide contests.

The general election is next. Titus will face a Republican contender in a district growing more competitive after redistricting. Despite shifts, the Cook Political Report considers Nevada’s 1st Congressional District “Likely Democrat,” attributing this to both its Democratic inclination and Titus’ incumbency.

Nevada’s 1st District includes eastern Las Vegas, Henderson, Paradise, and parts of Clark County. The Cook Partisan Voting Index gives it a D+2 rating. Republicans last held this seat in 1999 with former Rep. John Ensign.
