Haley Furst’s Journey: From Gender Transition to Renewed Faith

Haley Furst once lived as a transgender, atheist man who supported communism before returning to her belief in Jesus Christ. Her journey involved significant changes in her worldview and personal identity.

“I believed in anarchal communism, I was an atheist for a moment of my life, and I really believed in whatever the furthest left-leaning political stance one could possibly take,” Furst shared during an interview.

Growing up in Alberta, Canada, Furst described her early environment as conservative. Her first encounters with different cultural ideas occurred in a public high school, marking a sharp contrast from her private Christian school upbringing. Topics like gender liberation and sexual identity were openly discussed, revealing a new world to her.

During this period, Furst identified as a transgender man for about five or six years. She underwent hormone treatment and had surgery, specifically a hysterectomy, to aid in her transition. However, a colleague played a key role in her return to faith by reading passages from Romans 8:38-39. This sparked a change in her beliefs.

This passage states that nothing in creation can separate believers from the love of God. Reflecting on this, Furst decided to pray alone in her room, despite doubts that Jesus would accept her again. Her faith slowly grew stronger, leading to a change in her life and perspective.

Furst has since become critical of adults sharing details about sexual identity with children. She argues that early exposure to these topics influenced her struggle with her identity. As a social media creator, she now warns parents about content that might affect their children.

“There is so much talk, way more talk with children about sexual identity than there ever was in past years,” Furst noted.

She believes such discussions should occur within families, where parents can determine the right time and way to approach these sensitive subjects.
