The Raiders franchise began on January 30, 1960, in Oakland, California. As a founding member of the AFL (American Football League), they transitioned to the NFL following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
The team relocated to Los Angeles in 1982, becoming the Los Angeles Raiders until 1994. In 1995, the franchise returned to Oakland, where it remained until 2020. The NFL approved their move to Las Vegas in 2017, with the team officially relocating in 2020.
The Raiders have secured three Super Bowl titles in their history. The first victory came in 1976 (Super Bowl XI) under head coach John Madden. They achieved further success with wins in 1980 (Super Bowl XV) and 1983 (Super Bowl XVIII), though Madden was no longer coaching.
The Raiders compete in the AFC West division alongside the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers.
