Actress Dakota Johnson recently shared insights about her life and career aspirations during an interview with Vogue. At 36, she reflected on how her path has diverged from what she once envisioned.
Johnson expressed a strong desire to start a family, saying, “I really do. I do, but for whatever reason, that’s the plan of the universe.” She conveyed hope that she would experience family life, especially feeling a connection with “a soul that wants to come through.” Being around friends and colleagues who are already starting families has been challenging at times, yet she remains optimistic.
“I hope that that happens for me,” she said. “I’ve always felt there’s a soul that wants to come through.”
Renowned for her roles in films like The Social Network and 21 Jump Street, Johnson gained widespread recognition with her role as Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey. Her career continued to flourish with roles in movies such as Peanut Butter Falcon, Madame Web, and The Materialists. Despite her success, Johnson suggests a desire to slow down.
“I’ve worked back-to-back for so long that now I have this deep calling to shift my perspective a bit and maybe have a bit more of a real life,” Johnson noted.
She emphasized her goal to live authentically, stating, “I want to unfold and unfold and really lovingly embrace this life.” Being away from home for extended periods has been a norm, but Johnson looks forward to a change in pace.
Currently, Johnson is preparing for the premiere of the psychological thriller Verity, co-starring Josh Hartnett and Anne Hathaway. Based on Colleen Hoover’s novel, the film explores mysterious events surrounding a ghostwriter and an injured author.
“Michael Showalter, the director, would give me direction that was so extremely camp,” Johnson said, “but it was so fun… the references were all these erotic thrillers.”
Coming from a lineage of acting royalty, Johnson’s background includes her mother, Melanie Griffith, father Don Johnson, and grandmother Tippi Hedren, all acclaimed actors.
