On Saturday, a well-known Egyptian TV host received a death sentence by hanging, linked to a major drug case. Sarah Khalifa and 11 others face execution for their involvement in a criminal operation to produce and distribute synthetic drugs, according to Ahram Online.

Khalifa, a media figure with over 2.5 million Instagram followers, was arrested in Cairo in April 2025. She previously hosted “Mission Impossible,” an Egyptian crime show. The case involves 28 defendants accused of forming a criminal group, possessing unlicensed firearms, and ammunition.

Prosecutors, as reported by Ahram Online, described the group as a network with distinct roles: obtaining materials, manufacturing, and distributing drugs. Evidence included over 750 kilograms (1,653 pounds) of synthetic narcotics and raw materials, witness statements, and digital evidence like messages and videos.

The investigation also prompted authorities to freeze the defendants’ assets and bank accounts. Twelve defendants received death sentences, nine were given life terms, and seven were acquitted.
