Jonathan Taylor’s wife, Ayanna, has voiced a concern shared by many Indianapolis Colts fans: the stability of the team. The Colts, currently holding a 2-5 record, made significant roster changes Tuesday. The team traded Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers, receiving draft picks in return. Indianapolis aims to use these picks to rebuild their roster and regain competitiveness.
This transactional activity has left players and their families uncertain as the Nov. 10 trade deadline looms. Ayanna Taylor, in particular, is worried about whether her husband, Jonathan Taylor, might be involved in trade discussions, potentially impacting their family life.
“So naturally, my mind is spiraling. Is this the start of the trading frenzy? What does this mean for my husband and I?” shared Ayanna Taylor in a TikTok video.
The constant changes in the NFL mean that lives can shift rapidly, sometimes with unexpected phone calls or social media updates. Ayanna Taylor noted that the offseason saw the departure of wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and linebacker Zaire Franklin, both of whom were close to their family.
The absence of familiar faces marks a new chapter, and Ayanna Taylor reflects on losing the camaraderie built over the years with other players’ families: “For years, I’ve been surrounded by the same women. Our husbands work together. We’ve built friendships and you know, we’ve just grown up in the league together.”
Despite these changes, Jonathan Taylor continues to excel. In seven games, he has accumulated 587 rushing yards, eight touchdowns, and 178 receiving yards. He secured a two-year, $44 million contract extension with the Colts in August, keeping him under team control through 2028.
The Colts are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars at home this Sunday. Should trade activities continue, it could be Jonathan Taylor’s last appearance in a Colts jersey.
