Iranian Tankers Navigate US Blockade in Strait of Hormuz Amid Peace Deal Developments

7 days ago 0

Iranian tankers, carrying millions of barrels of crude oil, successfully navigated the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. This event occurred just days ahead of the anticipated US-Iran peace agreement revelation.

Two tankers, identified as Diona and Hero 2, bypassed the blockade. These vessels, under US sanctions, transported approximately 3.8 million barrels of Iranian crude oil, according to TankerTrackers, a shipping data website.

At least two National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) VLCC supertankers named DIONA (9569695) and HERO2 (9362073) have exited the US Navy blockade perimeter carrying a combined total of 3.8 million barrels of Iranian crude oil between them, TankerTrackers stated on X.

Lately, they noted the departure of a third NITC tanker, a Suezmax, from the blockade line with 1 million barrels of crude oil.

President Donald Trump implemented a naval blockade in April following unsuccessful negotiations in Pakistan. The blockade aimed at compelling Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping and stop its interference with maritime traffic.

Meanwhile, the US-Iran peace agreement is expected to be disclosed during a signing event at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland on Friday.

Details of this agreement remain undisclosed. However, Trump indicated that the strategic Strait of Hormuz would be “completely open.”

Speaking at the G7 meeting in France, Trump expressed optimism, saying, I think a lot of great things are going to happen in the Middle East right now. And very importantly, the oil is plummeting down and the stock market is shooting up like a rocket today.

The President assured that the main concern was preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. He emphasized their agreement to relinquish nuclear ambitions under strong supervision.

The situation is unfolding with further updates expected.
