Jayden Daniels Suffers Elbow Injury: Commanders Face Challenges

2 days ago 0

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was removed from the field after an apparent left elbow injury during Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The incident occurred on the final play of the first half. As Daniels attempted to regain balance after a trip, he used his left arm for support, seemingly hyperextending it. This accident appeared severe as the elbow bent in an unnatural way.

Daniels has a history of a similar injury. In 2025, he injured his left elbow during a game against the Seattle Seahawks. That previous injury was serious, and the current situation may define his season, impacting the team’s performance substantially. Medical expert Dr. David Chao analyzed the footage of the injury, describing it as a clear left elbow dislocation. According to him, it is easier for a joint to dislocate again after an original ligament tear as it heals with looseness.

Despite the injury affecting his arm, Daniels was taken to the locker room on a cart, concealing his facial expressions with a towel, potentially to shield his reaction from the spectators. In his absence, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota has taken over for the remainder of the game. The team’s season hangs by a thread, even this early in the season, if Daniels’ injury is as severe as observed.

Jayden Daniels had previously dislocated his left elbow while scrambling in a game against Seattle in November 2025. An MRI at that time showed no fracture or significant ligament damage, allowing him to avoid surgery. Daniels returned in Week 14, but re-aggravated the injury, resulting in him being sidelined for the rest of the season to focus on recovery for the following year.

The current injury might derail his rehabilitation plans. Further developments will significantly impact the Commanders’ performance in the coming games.
