President Trump has urged the cancellation of a scheduled concert series meant to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday this summer. His call comes amid a wave of musicians withdrawing from the lineup.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote, Cancel it. We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain.
The event, organized by Freedom 250, involves a series of nine musical performances during a 16-day exposition, known as the Great American State Fair. This exposition is set to take place on the National Mall starting in late June as part of the festivities for America’s 250th birthday.
At least five musicians have revoked their participation. Some artists mentioned that they were previously unaware that this event was part of an initiative associated with the Trump administration.
In earlier communications on Truth Social, Trump suggested an alternative to cancelation. He proposed he should headline the event, labeling himself the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World
and the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime.
Trump stated he should take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists.’
