A spokeswoman for Students for Life experienced a hostile encounter with a group of agitators affiliated with Antifa. This occurred during the Turning Point USA Women’s Leadership Summit held in Texas over the weekend. The incident unfolded when Lydia Taylor Davis attempted to engage with the protesters situated outside the San Antonio convention center, where the event was held.
Davis described the group as aggressive, harassing women entering and leaving the venue. Determined to open a dialogue, she approached them with a microphone. However, the atmosphere quickly escalated, with the protesters resorting to verbal abuse. Davis reported that they called her derogatory names such as “Nazi” and “fascist,” abandoning any possibility of a peaceful conversation.
A video captured some members intentionally coughing on her, others using a siren in close proximity to her face, and a person throwing water at her. The group hurled numerous graphic and sexual insults in her direction.
During the incident, the protesters expressed support for Charlie Kirk’s assassination, which shocked Davis. Kirk was tragically shot and killed on September 10, while speaking at a Turning Point USA event.
One protester even impersonated Kirk, mocking his death. This display, coupled with chants like “Oink, oink, piggy piggy, we don’t want you in our city,” was deeply disturbing for Davis, who expressed dismay at how these protesters used humor to support a violent act.
Davis noted the irony in being labeled as fascist while witnessing the celebration of an assassination linked to free speech. She stated that such actions highlight the need for vigilance in preserving the values of free expression and life.
A person wearing a mask resembling Kirk openly stated, “I support assassinating fascists,” but declined to define what they meant by fascism.
The protesters’ attempts to shut down the event reminded Davis of the dangerous nature of her work. Despite this, she emphasized the urgent need for involvement in the pro-life movement, citing the hostile environment they face as motivation. She revealed that she often works with security and wears protective gear during events.
Davis asserted that the violence from the opposition strengthens her resolve and the resolve of those in the Students for Life community. She noted a rise in volunteers since Kirk’s assassination, highlighting the urgent call to action.
The impact of such confrontations, Davis explained, often sways people toward the pro-life stance as they witness the aggression from opposing factions.
