The Seattle Seahawks have made a noteworthy move in the NFL landscape by acquiring Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. Seattle significantly enhanced its offensive line by trading two draft picks to Indianapolis in exchange for the All-Pro guard.
Kyle Brandt, a prominent NFL analyst, commented on the implications of this transaction, suggesting it could have a considerable impact on the division. Following Seattle’s acquisition of Nelson, the San Francisco 49ers re-signed defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Colts, adding further excitement to the NFC West.
Brandt highlighted that this was not favorable for the Los Angeles Rams as their competitors strengthened their positions. Despite the Rams’ aggressive offseason moves, including trading for edge rusher Myles Garrett and cornerback Trent McDuffie, their Super Bowl aspirations have been challenged by a 3-4 start this season.
Kyle Brandt shared his thoughts, noting, “I think the Quenton Nelson acquisition by Seattle will do bigger things for that division than anybody the Rams brought in.”
Garrett’s outstanding previous season, with a record 23 sacks, was cut short due to knee surgery, as he played only one game with the Rams. Moreover, Aaron Donald, returning from retirement, has yet to make a notable impact with zero recorded sacks this season.
Brandt also pointed out the capability of Nelson to invigorate the Seahawks’ offense, which may soon benefit from the return of running backs Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet.
“Myles Garrett’s been out. Aaron Donald’s been OK,” Brandt stated. “I think the Nelson thing is massive. It is an NFC-altering trade for an interior lineman that good. The running backs are getting healthier. This is a huge deal.”
Nelson will have the opportunity to showcase his abilities against the Rams in their matchups during Weeks 16 and 18.
