Recent Poll Findings
President Donald Trump has seen an increase in his approval rating among Hispanic Americans. According to a recent poll by The Economist/YouGov, his approval rating stands at 37 percent. This marks an improvement from earlier polls, including one last month showing a 40 percent approval.
The shift in Hispanic voters is noteworthy, as Latino voters were crucial in Trump’s victory in the 2024 election. While Democrats still hold the majority of Hispanic voters nationwide, Trump has made significant gains compared to previous Republican nominees. These gains are closely monitored by both parties due to the impact on electoral results.
“President Trump was honored to receive a record level of support from Hispanic Americans that helped fuel his landslide 2024 election victory,” said White House Spokeswoman Allison Schuster.
Detailed Polling Data
The Economist/YouGov poll reveals a 37 percent approval among Hispanic Americans, with a 59 percent disapproval rating. Trump’s overall approval rating is at 39 percent versus a 56 percent disapproval rate. This survey took place from June 13 to June 15 among 1,549 U.S. adults, with a margin of error of 3.5 percent.
Previous surveys show fluctuations in Trump’s approval among Hispanics. The numbers indicate a steady yet slight increase over recent weeks.
In a survey last week, Hispanic approval was 31 percent with 62 percent disapproval. The prior week showed 33 percent approval and 67 percent disapproval. Earlier in May, the numbers were 23 percent approval and 66 percent disapproval.
Economic Initiatives
Schuster highlighted Trump’s efforts post-inauguration to improve lives for Hispanic Americans. These initiatives include significant middle-class tax cuts and addressing Biden’s inflation crisis. She stated that these actions offer relief following challenges under previous Democratic leadership.
“There’s much more work to do,” Schuster added, emphasizing the continued efforts to make life affordable for working families.
Impact of Hispanic Support
Despite previous declines during Trump’s second term due to immigration policies, the recent improvement is crucial. Political science professor Andrew Ballard noted the significance of Hispanic voters for Trump’s electoral success. However, he also highlighted that white voters maintain paramount importance in Republican strategies.
