Walmart Pasta Recall Due to Listeria Concerns

Bentonville, Ark. — The Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of pasta sold at Walmart locations nationwide due to possible listeria contamination. Gias Foods, based in New York, is recalling two lots of bettergoods brand Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, which are distributed across Walmart Inc. stores.

The affected product is frozen, packaged in 22-ounce packages, and can be identified by the UPC number 194346442706. The specific lot numbers involved are L6079C and L6080C, with expiration dates of September 19, 2027, or September 20, 2027.

The recall began on September 15 following findings from routine sampling programs conducted by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. These findings indicated the potential presence of listeria bacteria in the product. As of now, no related illnesses have been reported.

Listeriosis, the illness caused by listeria infection, typically manifests within two weeks of consuming contaminated food. Symptoms may include fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, seizures, and flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches and fatigue.

Following the recall, Gias Foods has ceased distribution of the pasta meals while further investigation is underway.
