Woody Johnson Honored for Contributions to Tunnel to Towers

The owner of the New York Jets, Woody Johnson, will be honored at the Tunnel to Towers annual gala later this year. This recognition comes from his long-term partnership with the organization.

Founded in 2001, Tunnel to Towers supports 9/11 first responders, veterans, and their families. The organization provides mortgage-free smart homes for disabled servicemen and housing for homeless veterans. Johnson’s involvement began in 2014 with a $1 million donation to the Building for America’s Bravest program.

Recently, Johnson and Tunnel to Towers gave a new mortgage-free smart home to Command Sergeant Major William “Bud” McElroy. Johnson emphasized the organization’s role in honoring the memory of those who served. “Their work is a reminder of the heroes who demonstrated courage,” he told Fox News Digital.

Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO of Tunnel to Towers, praised Johnson’s contributions. “Woody Johnson has stood with our families for over a decade without asking for anything in return,” Siller said. Thanks to his efforts, several injured veterans are living in specially adapted smart homes today.

Siller noted Johnson’s selfless actions resemble those of his brother Stephen, who risked his life to help others. Johnson will receive the Follow the Footsteps Award at the gala in December.

Aside from his contributions to Tunnel to Towers, Johnson served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom during Trump’s administration. He is also a founding trustee of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
