ABC has announced that The Bachelor will return for its 30th season in 2027. This comes nearly two years after the conclusion of Grant Ellis’ season in March 2025. The new season is set to premiere on March 21.

Ellis’ season ended with his engagement to Juliana Pasquarosa. However, the couple parted ways less than three months after the season finale aired.

At this time, ABC has not revealed specific details about the upcoming season, including who the new lead will be.

This announcement follows the cancellation of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette. The season was removed from the schedule days before its intended premiere in March. The decision stemmed from footage surfacing that depicted Paul in an altercation with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, with a child present.

Following the cancellation, several prominent figures from Bachelor Nation expressed concerns about the franchise’s future. Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay suggested that the show’s reputation had been damaged, questioning its ability to recover.

“I was trying to think of a scenario where it could be different, because this isn’t just, ‘Oh, we put it all on a person. This person did this.’ This is the system that allowed this to happen,” she said on the Bachelor Party podcast. “The name Bachelorette, Bachelor is tainted at this point. How do you move forward past that? You can’t.”

Meanwhile, Ashley Iaconetti expressed hope for the franchise’s future. She shared her wish for a speedy return of The Bachelorette to television.

“I hope that the franchise goes on and flourishes,” Iaconetti said. “Overall, I just really hope that we see The Bachelorette on our screens faster than a year or so from now. I hope we can bounce back from this.”

The original Bachelorette, Trista Sutter, also remains optimistic about the show’s future. She recalled how the show played a pivotal role in her life.

“It’s what brought me my family, or at least introduced me to Ryan, so we could create a family,” she told PEOPLE. “So if it’s all over, it will make me sad. [I’m] hoping that that’s not the case.”
